Adam Tabaka (00:00):

So a big part of a successful stress-free home buying process, or at least a process that’s as low in stress as can possibly be achieved, is having a clear understanding of what it is that you want in a home. Now, this is going to vary from person to person. If you’re buying with somebody else, the two of you may not even see eye to eye on everything that you’re looking for, and that’s where clear and honest communication really comes in, really becomes important.

(00:30):

Now, down below, there’s a home priorities worksheet. I would highly recommend if you haven’t done something like this already, that you download the form and really take the time to fill that out to the best of your ability. Not all the criteria are going to apply in every situation, but it should help you really gain some clarity as far as what’s important to you if you’re buying with a partner, what’s important to them.

(00:57):

And with all that said, what do you think are the top three priorities in terms of choosing a neighborhood as far as other home buyers were concerned? Number three was overall affordability with 36% of respondents indicating that that was a top priority. Number two was convenience to family and friends with 45% of respondents indicating that that was a major priority. And then number one, priority of home buyers across the board at 59% was the quality of the neighborhood.

(01:31):

Are these your priorities? Do you have other bigger priorities? Take the time to flesh out your priorities on paper. It’ll set you up for success.
